Hiunchuli Peak

Hiunchuli peak lies in the Annapurna range and it is connected to Annapurna South. Discovered by Col. Jimmy Roberts, it is one of the three major trekking peaks within the Annapurna Sanctuary. An American Peace Corps Expedition, under the leadership of Craig Anderson first conquered the Hiunchuli summit in October 1971. Although it is easy to reach the mountain and the popular Annapurna Sanctuary, the actual ascent of Hiunchuli is considered as one of the most difficult climb among all trekking peaks. Although it is not extremely difficult in climbing technique, this route is exposed to endangered rock fall and it is difficult to find the route. The exact route to the summit is not well known. The ascent by the northwest face has been attempted only by a very few climbers and was not always succeed. The common approach is ascending from the Annapurna Base Camp in the Sanctuary.
